One of the questions heading into the Phoenix Suns’ offseason was what the team planned to do with Alex Len.

That question has been answered, as the restricted free agent center has inked his one-year, $4.2 million qualifying offer to remain in Phoenix before hitting unrestricted free agency next offseason, reports The Vertical’s Shams Charania on Sunday.

ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday that Len was ready to sign the team’s qualifying offer.

According to Wojnarowski, Len’s camp explored restricted free agent offers and sign-and-trade proposals, but instead opted to sign the Suns’ offer with the idea of hitting the market as an unrestricted free agent next summer. The former first-round draft pick figures to be in a rotation at center with veteran Tyson Chandler and Alan Williams, who signed a new three-year, $17 million deal with the team in July.

Williams, however, is set to undergo surgery after he tore his meniscus last week.

Len, 24, played in 77 games last season, starting 34. He averaged 8.0 points and 6.6 rebounds per contest while shooting close to 50 percent from the floor.

The Suns report to training camp Tuesday at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. They open a five-game preseason schedule the following Tuesday, October 3, in Portland against the Trail Blazers.
