Coyotes announce Gila River Arena ice ready for Saturday game

The Arizona Coyotes will play their Saturday preseason game at home against the San Jose Sharks as planned after cancelling their preseason opener Monday due to poor ice conditions, Arizona Coyotes president and CEO Steve Patterson said in a statement.
“Last weekend, AEG Facilities, which serves as the manager for Gila River Arena, determined that poor ice conditions precluded the team from playing its first preseason game on Monday, September 18 versus the Los Angeles Kings. The problem has since been corrected and a new sheet of ice has been installed,” Patterson said in the release.
“On behalf of the entire organization, I would like to thank our fans and corporate partners for their patience and understanding throughout this process. We look forward to seeing everyone at our game on Saturday.”
Arizona opened its preseason on the road Wednesday in Anaheim with a 5-1 win over the Ducks.
