The Arizona Coyotes announced Tuesday that they had reduced their training camp roster by five players, a day after they had re-assigned three other players.

On Monday, Arizona announced goaltender Adin Hill and centers Michael Latta and Tyler Gaudet were all re-assigned to the Tucson Roadrunners, the Coyotes’ AHL affiliate.

On Tuesday, the Coyotes re-assigned five more to Tucson: center Ryan MacInnis, right wing Nick Merkley and defensemen Andrew Campbell, Kyle Wood and Kevin Ekman-Larsson.

There are now 29 players remaining in camp.

Wood, 21, came into camp looking to battle for a spot within the Coyotes’ deep blue-line corps, but it appears his hopes of coming into the NHL will be put on hold. He played well in his first AHL season last year, scoring 14 goals and 29 assists in 68 games for Tucson in his first full season within the Coyotes’ organization. Wood was a third-round draft choice by the Colorado Avalanche in 2014 and came to Arizona with Alex Tanguay in the Mikkel Boedker trade.

NHL rosters must be finalized by Oct. 3. The Coyotes have two preseason games remaining.
