He will be available for tonight’s game against the Kansas City Royals.
Back in August, Mathis suffered the injury when Mets’ Dominic Smith fouled a ball off Mathis’ right hand. Before he was injured, he led the team in games caught with 56 games. He also caught 35.7 percent of runners stealing, which currently ranks seventh in MLB, and has a 3.55 catchers ERA, which ranks eighth.
In 58 games this season, Mathis hit a .213 batting average with 10 doubles, two triples, two home runs and 11 RBI. Mathis also shined between June 22 and Aug. 5 when he had a career-best 17-game on-base streak.
