Paul Goldschmidt gets things started early for D-backs in Game 2 of NLDS

Oct 7, 2017, 6:59 PM | Updated: 7:29 pm

The Arizona Diamondbacks needed an early spark Saturday after losing Game 1 of the NLDS.

First baseman Paul Goldschmidt made it happen.

Following an A.J. Pollock walk, Goldschmidt stepped up to the plate and let one fly, getting the D-backs on the board first.

Thanks to his first-inning jack, the D-backs took a 2-0 lead early in Game 2.

With this last home run, Goldschmidt now has four homers in seven career postseason games, including two in 2017.

He also ties Luis Gonzalez for the second most in D-backs franchise history with four home runs, trailing only Chris Young (5).

His 11 RBI in the postseason is third in franchise history, behind Steve Finley (14) and Gonzalez (12).

At Dodger Stadium, Goldschmidt has been solid. Since 2011, he has 15 homers and 40 RBI, the most by a visiting player.
