The Arizona Diamondbacks ran into a rough patch during Game 2 of the NLDS Saturday night.

Robbie Ray started off strong, but by the fifth inning, his night was finished.

After going 4.1 innings, Ray gave way to Jimmie Sherfy. He finished the night allowing three runs on four hits with six strikeouts and three wild pitches.

The Dodgers, who only had one hit in the first three innings, turned it around in the fourth and fifth innings.

Ray looked settled after the first inning, not allowing a hit, but slowly began to run out of steam as the game progressed. It wasn’t until the fourth, though, when the Dodgers were able to capitilize and take the 3-2 lead over the left-hander.

After Ray allowed two runners on at the start of the fifth, Sherfy was up next. He couldn’t record an out and surrendered three runs before making a quick exit. He left the mound with his team down 6-2.

With work left out on the field, Jorge De La Rosa stepped up to try to get the team out of the fifth. The Dodgers added another run and the D-backs were now trailing 7-2.

Goldschmidt’s two-run jack gave the team a 2-0 lead early in the first inning, but since then, the bats went cold, with the Dodgers retiring 11 straight D-backs as the deficit grew.
