Two days away from tip-off of the Phoenix Suns’ 50th season, the team announced a season-long “Since ’68” series looking back at the franchise’s most memorable moments.
The Suns did so with a familiar voice narrating.
Arizona Sen. John McCain tells the story of Phoenix’s first professional sports franchise, touching on the team’s inception, its heartbreak in two NBA Finals appearances, the Steve Nash era dubbed “Seven Seconds or Less” and even Devin Booker’s 70-point game last year.
“It’s a story of overwhelming drama, fantastic theater, and unexpected plot lines with more twists and turns than a hike up Camelback Mountain,” McCain says. “And while there’s been some heartbreak, it’s been quite the joyride with iconic moments that are forever etched into our collective memories.”
Phoenix will telecast its “Since ’68” series of content during “Suns Live” pregame shows before every game. The segments will also appear on digital channels like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the Suns’ website.
“Through it all, we ran our way into the hearts of fans around the world, revolutionizing the sport along the way,” McCain says in the video. “If history tells us anything, it’s that the Suns always rise.”
