Whisenhunt says offense will continue to improve

The solid play of running back Beanie Wells has eased the panic that surrounded the team after rookie Ryan Williams went down with a season ending injury.
Now it has been replaced with concern that the Cardinals are not running the ball enough. Go figure.
However, it may not be as simple as some may think.
“We have to get a little better on third down than we did last week so we can sustain some drives,” head coach Ken Whisenhunt told reporters. “That will help with getting more carries.”
The Cardinals rank 19th in the league in total rushing yards with 192, and are seventh in rushing yards per attempt at 4.8.
The question people are asking is how can a team that is rushing the ball at that kind of clip rank 29th in the league with 40 total attempts.
“Our goal is to continue to improve as we go along but I”m certainly optimistic that we can improve our run game,” Whisenhunt said.
Still, Wells’ play has impressed, and the coach credits his entire offense for the turnaround in the ground game.
“It’s always a team effort; it’s never one guy,” said Whisenhunt. “Beanie’s working hard it at; he’s getting better.”
