ESPN Insider says Cardinals are worst defense in the NFL

ESPN football analyst Ron Jaworski joined Arizona Sports 620’s Burns and Gambo Friday, and the Cardinals’ defense came up as a topic of conversation.

Has the Monday Night Football host seen a worse defense in the NFL?

“Quiet honestly, no,” Jaworski said. “When you give up 932 yards in two games obviously not good.”

The Cardinals rank fourth in the NFL in total yards given up.

“There is no way you can win consistently in the NFL playing the kind of defense the Cardinals are playing,” Jaworski said.

It is still early in the season and Jaworski seems to think it is only a matter of mistakes, not necessarily scheme.

“The key to good defense is 11 players doing their job on every single play,” Jaworski said. “There are just too many guys making mistakes.

“You know Ray Horton likes that aggressive style of defense; likes to do a lot of different looks, but I really think at this time you kind of have to calm things down a little bit. Too many mental mistakes, lack of discipline.”
