Suns’ T.J. Warren leaves game against Knicks with head injury

Phoenix Suns small forward T.J. Warren left Friday’s game against the New York Knicks with a head injury.

On a play in transition with 2:10 left in the first quarter, Warren received a pass from Devin Booker and when attacking the basket, took a bump off Knicks big man Enes Kanter. Kanter went straight up as Warren collided with him.

The Suns announced Warren would not return due to a headache.

The Knicks said Kanter had a laceration under his chin from the collision.

Warren was holding his head as he landed on the ground. He spent several seconds on the ground as members of the staff came over to check on him. He was then helped off the floor to the locker room.

A source told 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station‘s John Gambadoro that Warren “should be fine,” and will undergo testing when the Suns arrive in San Antonio on Saturday. If the results are favorable, Warren could be cleared to play.

Warren missed 13 games last year with a minor head injury. In the preseason, Warren bumped his head off the cement in Utah and had a laceration on the back of his head. He would miss the remaining three games of preseason.

On the season, Warren is averaging 18 points and 6.5 rebounds a game.
