The Arizona Cardinals lost quarterback Carson Palmer to a broken arm in a Week 7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, and they may now be without backup Drew Stanton.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported Saturday that Stanton suffered a sprained knee in Thursday night’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He also reported that Matt Barkley, who was with the Cardinals in 2015 and for the 2016 preseason, is expected to be brought back.

Barkley confirmed the report after posting on Twitter that he was back with the team.

If Stanton can’t play at Houston in Week 11, Blaine Gabbert will start, Mortensen reported. Mike Bercovici will remain on the practice squad.

Stanton, 33, has been with the Cardinals since 2014 and has started the previous two games for Arizona. He owns a 48.4 completion percentage and 68.9 QB rating with three touchdowns in two interceptions this season.

Barkley is a 27-year-old alumnus of USC who has seen NFL playing time with the Eagles and Bears. In six career starts (all last season with Chicago), he has a 61.2 completion percentage and eight touchdowns with 12 interceptions.

The Cardinals already lost several players in that Seahawks loss. D.J. Humphries, Tyvon Branch and Ifeanyi Momah are all out for the season due to injuries suffered in that game.
