The Arizona Cardinals have made a move at wide receiver, adding rookie Carlton Agudosi to the 53-man roster from the practice squad, the team announced Wednesday.

The Cardinals additionally adding receiver Alonzo Russell to the practice squad.

The 6-foot-6 Agudosi went undrafted out of Rutgers. He played 45 games in his four years, catching 35 balls for 513 yards and two touchdowns. Agudosi produced only one college season in which he caught at least 10 passes. In his junior year, he had 17 receptions for 313 yards and one touchdown.

“I don’t know if it was quarterback, scheme or what it was,” head coach Bruce Arians told AZCardinals.com about Agudosi in July. “That’s a big, tall fast guy that should have had big numbers in college.”

In four preseason games after being signed by the Cardinals in May, Agudosi had four receptions for 52 yards.

Arizona makes the move after general manager Steve Keim was vocal about the team needing to add someone at wide receiver following the team’s 31-21 loss to the Texans Sunday.

“We’ve been looking at wide receivers in a lot of different scenarios,” Keim told Doug & Wolf Monday on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station. “Whether it’s guys on practice squads that we could potentially poach or guys that are off the street.”

John Brown, Jaron Brown, J.J. Nelson and Brittan Golden saw a total of 13 throws come their way in that game. Those targets yielded only five catches for 54 yards. There were several drops and errors when they were thrown to.

Arians revealed Tuesday night on Sirius XM NFL Radio that John Brown was unlikely to be available Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to turf toe.

Russell played for the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad in 2016 and was released in September. In college at Toledo, he recorded 202 catches for 3,076 yards and 24 touchdowns in 50 games.
