The Arizona Coyotes announced Tuesday that injured defeneseman Jakob Chychrun has been assigned to the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners for conditioning purposes.
Chychrun had been practicing with the Coyotes as he recovers from a knee injury he suffered in the offseason, delaying the start to his sophomore season.
In his rookie year in 2016-17, the 19-year-old scored seven goals and recorded 13 assists in 68 games after making the team out of training camp. He was one of two players Arizona selected in the first round (16th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft.
Craig Morgan of 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station noted that the end of November was a target for Chychrun’s return to NHL action.
Chychrun will join a Roadrunners team that currently boasts the third-best point percentage in the AHL and is in first place in the Pacific Division at 10-3-3.
