The Arizona Coyotes announced Wednesday they’ve recalled defenseman Andrew Campbell from the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners.

Campbell, 29, has spent parts of three NHL seasons with the Los Angeles Kings, Coyotes and Toronto Maple Leafs. His last stint with the Coyotes was in 2014-15, when he played 33 games and scored one assist while averaging 17:32 of ice time per game.

He returned to the Coyotes organization this offseason when he signed a two-year, two-way contract. In 16 games with the Roadrunners this year, he has a goal and two assists.

The move comes one day after Arizona defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson suffered an upper-body injury in a 3-2 overtime loss at the Edmonton Oilers. Hjalmarsson already missed much of the month of November after an upper-body injury he suffered on Oct. 30 at Philadelphia.

In 17 games this season, Hjalmarsson has no goals and four assists while playing 20:57 per game. He was acquired in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks this offseason for Connor Murphy and Laurent Dauphin.

The Coyotes’ next game is on Thursday night against the Calgary Flames.
