Rattlers stay atop latest Coaches’ Poll

Apr 30, 2014, 7:12 PM | Updated: 9:47 pm

The Arizona Rattlers (6-0) preserved their top ranking in the latest Arena Football League Coaches’ Poll Wednesday, receiving all 13 first-place votes.

The Rattlers tied their franchise record for consecutive wins to start the season, six, with a 69-59 victory over the San Antonio Talons (1-6) Saturday.

After the team started as the No. 1 ranked team on the AFL Field Pass vPower Rankings last week, the Rattlers fell to No. 2 as the Cleveland Gladiators (6-0) captured the No. 1 spot following a 55-28 win over the Pittsburgh Power (3-3).

To keep their perfect season intact, the Rattlers will have to overcome the Jacksonville Sharks (2-4) for a second time this season, but this time as the road team.

The Rattlers rolled over the Sharks in Week 3 of the season, winning 63-38 as quarterback Nick Davila threw for 211 yards and seven touchdowns on April 5. Davila leads the AFL with 47 touchdown passes.

The two-time defending champions will be on the road for a second consecutive week after visiting Jacksonville, traveling to play the Portland Thunder (1-5) for the first time in franchise history on May 10.
