Arizona State’s JoJo Wicker declares for 2018 NFL Draft

Jan 2, 2018, 11:13 PM | Updated: Jan 3, 2018, 3:14 pm

Arizona State junior defensive lineman JoJo Wicker announced Tuesday that he will enter the 2018 NFL Draft, foregoing his senior season with the Sun Devils.

Wicker has made a major impact for the Sun Devils on defense since his freshman season in 2015. Wicker recorded 21 tackles, four sacks and two forced fumbles as a freshman, and only improved throughout his career.

He earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors in both his sophomore and junior seasons. Combined, Wicker finished with 81 tackles in his last two seasons with the Sun Devils, including a team-high 13 tackles for loss in 2017.

Wicker was weighing his options in the middle of December on whether or not he would enter the draft. There was speculation that with the hiring of Antonio Pierce to be ASU’s linebacker’s coach, Wicker may decide to stay for his senior season.

Pierce coached Wicker at Long Beach Polytechnic High School in California, where Wicker was the 72nd best prospect according to 247Sports.com in the 2015 class.

According to NFLDraftScout.com, Wicker is the 22nd best defensive end in his 2019 class.
