If you’re a sports fan, there’s a strong chance you’ve at least partially agreed with Air Force hockey coach Frank Serratore on referees at some point.
Following a 6-0 loss to Denver University, Serratore gave his incredible extended thoughts on referees that include a lot of hard truths about officials in sports.
Serratore first explains that judgment goes a long way for refs, saying, “if you’re looking hard enough, you can find a penalty on just about every shift. The great officials know how to manage the game, know how to manage people.”
He then re-enacted how he sarcastically clapped at a ref after too many whistles against his team, which earned him an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty following Denver’s power play goal.
Serratore had hoped the ref would come over and talk him through the process instead of given him the penalty.
He concluded his thoughts by dropping the ultimate truth bomb.
“There’s three things I’ve never seen in my life,” he said. “I’ve never seen Bigfoot, I’ve never seen the Easter Bunny and I’ve never seen a referee say he had a crap game.”
For those wondering why Santa was left out, well, that’s because Serratore claimed he’s met the guy and he’s a “good dude.”
Good to hear, Frank!
