With scheduled airport construction restricting some airlines into San Diego during the month of August, the Arizona Diamondbacks were faced with a problem even before the start of the 2018 season.

Originally scheduled to fly from Arlington to San Diego during the restrictions, The D-backs would have to fly into the Los Angeles area and shuttle down to San Diego — after a night game. They would arrive in San Diego the day of the game.

But thanks to the Texas Rangers and a bit of shuffling, the teams figured out a different way to make it all work.

According to SportsDay, the new plan is for the D-backs to fly into LA and have an off day in San Diego, while the Rangers move their series with Arizona from Aug. 14-15 to Aug. 13-14. The D-backs will have more time to prepare for San Diego, while the Rangers get a day off in the middle of a homestand.

It seems that was the best option too as another choice would have been to play the Aug. 15 game as a day game — in August. In 2016, the average temperature for day games was 95 degrees.
