Dez Bryant has a point.
The NCAA’s investigation into whether or not Johnny Manziel took money for autograph sessions with brokers just went viral. For Dez Bryant it just became volatile.
Dallas’ mercurial wide receiver is watching what the NCAA does to Johnny Football within the context of fairness; and others are watching. Bryant was suspended for the final 10 games of his college career, because he lied about having lunch with Deion Sanders. Deion paid for his lunch and that is a violation of NCAA code. Bryant lied about it and that was what sent the NCAA into a tizzy. Bryant felt violated and didn’t think his impending suspension was warranted or fair.
But those are the rules, right Johnny Football?
Although Bryant doesn’t want to see Manziel suspended and wants to see him play this year, he does want to SEE if the hypocrisy of the NCAA continues. And whether we want to admit this or not, the culture climate we live in is watching this investigation even closer.
How does a black wide receiver miss the final 10 games of his college career because he lied to the NCAA about lunch with a living legend, but a white quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner somehow beats an investigation where there’s so much circumstantial evidence he took thousands of dollars for signing merchandise that it would hold up in a court of law?
Dez Bryant has a point. And we all want to see fairness prevail. And the NCAA knows it. This does not bode well for Texas A&M fans. The NCAA has no choice but to take this investigation to the mat and turn over every stone in the name of propriety.
They don’t want to be hypocrites…nor perceived as such.
