The Arizona Diamondbacks avoided arbitration with reliever Randall Delgado and agreed to a one-year deal, the club announced Monday night.

The former starter appeared in 26 games last season, starting in five games with a 3.59 ERA. He was out since mid-July with inflammation in right elbow and then in early September, manager Torey Lovullo said an MRI revealed a flexor strain that had him miss the rest of the season.

In May, Delgado threw 20.2 innings and had a 1.31 ERA. That included two starts filling in for the injured Taijuan Walker.

Delgado made three more starts in June, ending that month with a 2.95 ERA over 21.1 innings.

He would make three more appearances in July before missing the rest of the season.

Delgado has been in Arizona for five seasons.
