Green: Welcome back, Same Old Cardinals

Oh hey there, it’s, umm, nice to see you.

Sorry I was so quick to let you go, but I really thought I
was finally ready to move on. After all, I felt after 16
years things had run their course with us. We would both
be better off if we parted ways.

You see, Same Old Cardinals, I was suckered into believing
things could change, that the way I knew did not have to
be the way it would always be.

Then there was this guy, Kurt.

He came along and, after a rocky beginning, made things
fun – in a different way than you used to.

Not that there were not bad times with him. Things were
not perfect all the time but, I soon realized that while
the lows were low the highs were on a level I’d never
experienced. At the very least I appreciated the effort,
as it helped things be exciting an interesting most weeks.
The times were, to be honest, great.

Yeah, there was some stress involved. Meaningful dates in
December along with more in January forced me to live a
life I was really unprepared for. But for that I blame
you, as we only flirted with that lifestyle once before. I
was just a kid, in awe of what was in front of me. You
were right, though, I just wasn’t ready.

But that guy Kurt, you know, really made me think now was
the time. Yeah, I was not always comfortable, but I think
that’s part of what made things fun. Despite the sudden
change I really was having the time of my life. Still, as
they say, all good things must come to an end.

And now, after three years apart, you’ve returned for me.
The last time I saw you the Bears were who we thought they
were, and now you’ve returned pouring your heart and soul
into things. I should be grateful for that, that you care
so much even after what I did.

I guess if time has taught me anything it is that I should
stay true to my roots. Sure, it’s fun to dream, but in the
end it’s you; it’s always been you. And hey, being
comfortable isn’t so bad.

Welcome back, Same Old Cardinals, are you planning on
sticking around for a while?
