The Women’s Moto-X racer was leading her event over the weekend and seemed destined for X-Games gold…or whatever it is you get for winning the X-Games.

Leading by a comfortable distance, she decided to do a fist pump during the final jump of the race in celebration of her impending victory.

But then she failed to stick the landing.

Rutledge crashed, which paved the way for Vicki Golden to win the race for the third time in her career.

As for Rutlege, she likely learned a valuable lesson about a thing called hubris.
