The Kerrigan-Harding saga, told through non-existent social media

Jan 17, 2014, 10:13 PM | Updated: 10:13 pm

It’s hard to believe 20 years have passed since Shane Stand whacked figure skater Nancy Kerrigan in the knee with a baton, setting off one of the most twisted sports conspiracies in history.

ESPN “celebrated” the anniversary with the airing of a 30 for 30 film called “The Price of Gold”, a thorough retelling of the incident in Detroit that led to the subsequent soap opera at the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics between Kerrigan and U.S. teammate Tonya Harding.

The documentary was very well done, but it might have been the second-best re-telling of the events from two decades ago we saw this week.

Sarah Spain of ESPNW.com put together a piece that documents how the strange saga would have looked through the scope of Twitter — had the popular social media application been around in 1994.

It’s one of the most creative things we at the Haboob have seen on these here internets in a long, long time.
