Shelby Miller, the last of the Arizona Diamondbacks’ arbitration-eligible players this offseason, has won his case and will receive a $4.9 million deal over the D-backs’ proposed $4.7 million contract for the 2018 season, reports FanRag Sports’ Jon Heyman.

The starting pitcher who in May underwent Tommy John surgery joins 12 other Diamondbacks who were up for contract arbitration.

Those included: Infielders Nick Ahmed, Chris Owings and Jake Lamb; relievers Brad Boxberger, Andrew Chafin and Randall Delgado; catcher Chris Herrmann; outfielders David Peralta and A.J. Pollock; and starters Patrick Corbin, Robbie Ray and Taijuan Walker.

Before his elbow injury, Miller appeared set for a rebound season last year after he faltered to a 6.15 ERA and 3-12 record in his debut season with Arizona in 2016.

The right-hander started four games in 2017, going 2-2 while allowing 10 earned runs with 20 strikeouts and 12 walks in 22.0 innings pitched before his injury.

Corbin said Wednesday that Miller was recovering well and active at Salt River Fields heading into spring training.

“I see him everyday at Salt River. I believe he’s probably going to be getting off the mound soon so he’s throwing, playing catch. He’s getting ready for next season,” Corbin said.
