Cubs fan makes great catch in Wrigley bleachers

Aug 12, 2014, 2:30 PM | Updated: 2:34 pm

This hasn’t been the Chicago Cubs’ year (again).

The Cubbies are almost assured of a last-place finish in the NL Central — their 11th last-place showing since 1970.

Needless to say, highlights are few and far between, but leave it to a 65-year-old fan to provide one from the Wrigley Field bleachers.

Mike Pullin, a bowler on the Senior PBA Tour, snared a long home run by Brewers slugger Mark Reynolds in Chicago’s 3-1 loss Monday night. Pullin reached over the fence and kept the ball from becoming a souvenir for fans waiting on Waveland Avenue.

Then, in true Cubs fan form, Pullin switched out the home run ball with one his dog had mangled and threw that on to the field, much to the delight of the home fans.

Just a thought…maybe Theo Epstein should sign Pullin. The guy did play softball for 31 years, and remember the last time the Cubs signed somebody who made a great play in the bleachers? They made a movie about it.
