Mariano Rivera is a pros pro

Last summer New York Yankee closer Mariano Rivera tore his ACL while tracking down a baseball during batting practice. Some thought he may not return to the game.

He worked his way back and was able to get ready for the start of the 2013 season. In early March he announced it would be his final season of toeing the rubber in the 9th inning.

While New York Yankees fans everywhere owe Rivera plenty of thanks for all his success, Rivera is the one doing the thanking to fans and employees around the country.

The New York Times recently did a profile of Rivera doing these unique events on the final stops of the season.

So far the Yankees have visited Cleveland and Detroit.

In Cleveland he met with fan John Adams, who has been banging a bass drum at games for 40 years. He also met many team employees.

“That was so awesome,” said John Bowers, a client service coordinator for season tickets who has worked for the Indians for 23 years. “I don’t recall ever hearing about anyone ever doing something like this before.”

The trip to Detroit included grounds crew members and fans.

Wherever the Yankees travel this summer, the city is in for a true treat.
