College coach makes sure players are dressed for success

Sometimes a coach “gets it.”

Todd Monken, the head football coach at Southern Miss, is one such person.

Though his team went 1-11 this year — only winning their final game of the season to end a 23-game losing streak — the first-year coach wanted to reward his seniors for working hard.

So, he sent them into the offseason on a positive note.

From CoachingSearch.com:

Monken bought a suit for every graduating member of the senior class, according to Bret Becton, a professor at Southern Miss.

“We all would have liked to have seen more wins and better stats, but you have to agree that Coach Monken is a man of character who is concerned about the young men he coaches,” Becton wrote on Facebook. “He bought every graduating senior player a suit so they would be prepared for job interviews. Brighter days ahead.”

It’s a great gesture that will likely motivate each of the young men as they move forward with their post-college lives.

And in case you were wondering, there was no violation of NCAA rules because the players’ eligibility was up.
