Jonathan Toews, Blackhawks grant a wish for four-year-old

This is really, really cool.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Pittsburgh Penguins were preparing for an outdoor game at Soldier Field on Friday — the night before the game — when Chicago captain Jonathan Toews brought a special guest onto the ice.

That skater? None other than a cancer-stricken four year old named Nicholas Skretkowski, wearing a No. 19 jersey with the Captain’s ‘C’ on the sweater’s front — S-K-R-E-T-K-O-W-S-K-I across the back.

Make-A-Wish put the whole evening together for the boy, who has a medical condition called Wilms’ tumor and strabismus, according to

“It was great … not just to be out on the ice with him, but to have him in here with the guys,” Toews told

“He seemed a little shy at first, but then kind of got more comfortable. Someone asked him about his favorite team and his favorite players. He seemed like he knew a lot for a little guy.”
