Cardinals sign Considine, release Graham

The Arizona Cardinals made a couple of roster moves on Tuesday, signing free agent safety Sean Considine while releasing punter Ben Graham.

Considine was released by the Carolina Panthers on October 4th. He had played four games with the Panthers this season, and registered one fumble recovery.

Considine was originally drafted out of Iowa in the fourth round by Philadelphia in 2005, and spent four years with the Eagles before signing with Jacksonville, where he spent two years.

The Cardinals addressed a need at safety necessitated by the foot injury suffered by Kerry Rhodes in Sunday’s 34-10 loss at Minnesota. Rhodes will miss what head coach Ken Whisenhunt described as “a number of weeks” with a broken left foot.

Free agent safety Curtis Taylor was also brought in for a tryout on Tuesday. Taylor played collegiately at LSU and spent the 2009 and 2010 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.

To make room for Considine on the roster, the Cardinals cut veteran punter Ben Graham.

Graham punted five times for an average of 42.4 yards per boot in the Minnesota loss while filling in for the injured Dave Zastudil.

The Cardinals are in their bye week, and will resume regular season play on October 23rd when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers at University of Phoenix Stadium.
