Spring training preview: Marotta and Doug talk D-backs

Spring Training is underway, but the Diamondbacks’ offseason moves have continued.
The D-backs pulled off a three-team trade on Tuesday, sending Brandon Drury to the Yankees and Anthony Banda to the Rays in exchange for Tampa Bay slugger Steven Souza. The outfielder adds some pop to Arizona’s lineup (after the team loses outgoing free agent J.D. Martinez), as Souza hit 30 home runs, drove in 78 runs and had the fifth-most walks in the AL with 84 in 2017.
The D-backs also added speedster Jarrod Dyson to the outfield mix on Monday.
“If you’re going to have a fallback plan without J.D. Martinez, they did pretty well,” said Vince Marotta, co-host of Bickley & Marotta of 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station. Marotta joined Doug & Wolf‘s Doug Franz in a spring training preview discussion on Wednesday.
