ARIZONA CARDINALS

Cardinals are almost — but not yet — done

The odds of the Arizona Cardinals reaching the playoffs
after starting the season 1-4 are slim, to say the least.

“Ninety-five percent of the teams that go 1-4 do not make
the playoffs,” Arizona Sports 620’s Ron Wolfley said.

Oops.

Wolfley says it’s not impossible for the Cardinals to turn
things around and reach the postseason, and with 11 games
left on the schedule that’s technically true.

That said, things look fairly bleak.

“It’s dang near impossible, and so says math, but it’s not
impossible,” Wolfley added.

If the Cardinals are to turn things around some things
will have to change, specifically their play on both
lines.

Arizona ranks 15th in the NFL with 11 QB sacks on the
season but has allowed the fourth-most QB take downs of
any team with 16.

“Their pass rush, they do not have a pass rush,” Wolfley
said, “and the pass rush, I think, goes hand in hand with
the coverage and their coverage problems.”

Wolf continued.

“So you can look at it and say pass rush/coverage, that’s
a trend for the Arizona Cardinals.”

Wolfley also talked about Kevin Kolb’s protection being a
problem, as well as the QB’s pocket presence and the
team’s struggles on third down.
