Sean Miller and his lawyers met with Arizona administrators on Monday in the wake of the ESPN report that linked the Wildcats head coach to the FBI investigation into corruption that has rocked college basketball, reports 247 Sports’ Evan Daniels.

The meeting was to determine Miller’s future with the program, according to Daniels.

A Friday report from ESPN’s Mark Schlabach revealed Miller was allegedly recorded on an FBI wiretap discussing a payment of $100,000 to ensure a commitment from now-freshman Deandre Ayton.

Miller allegedly was heard on the wiretap speaking with Christian Dawkins, a runner linked to a sports agency that has been implicated in the college basketball scandal that began with 10 arrests. Dawkins and former Arizona assistant Emanuel “Book” Richardson were among those arrested late last year on charges of fraud and bribery stemming from the recruitment of high school players.

Per the ESPN report on Miller, it appears the Arizona coach could have violated NCAA recruiting rules. While details were not explicit, the report was enough for an emergency Arizona Board of Regents meetings.

Miller also stepped away from the Wildcats on Saturday before they fell in overtime to the Oregon Ducks in Eugene.

Associated head coach Lorenzo Romar stepped in to lead Arizona, while Ayton played well, scoring 28 points to go with 18 rebounds and four blocks. Both Ayton’s lawyers and an outside counsel hired by the school said they were confident the center would remain eligible.

Miller’s status remained unclear after the game, and Romar said Saturday he wasn’t sure how long he would need to lead Arizona with its head coach out of the picture.

According to the Arizona Daily Star, Miller did not coach the Wildcats’ practice on Monday.
