The Shootout: ASU’s Division I hockey program bodes well for Coyotes
We love getting good hockey news in Arizona.
The announcement this week that Arizona State University would add men’s hockey as a NCAA Division I team is huge news for hockey in the desert, including the Arizona Coyotes.
Why? Let’s look at some simple reasons:
1) Recruiting is going to be insanely easy. Fly a few talented kids down from a northern state in the middle of January and let the weather do the talking.
2) There’s a winning program in place. Arizona sports fans love a winner and ASU’s announcement came after it took the national title last season.
3) Arizona is an up-and-coming hockey state. The Coyotes could partner with ASU to not only promote each other, but to develop talent. There’s already some stud Arizona kids moving through the nation’s hockey system.
How excited are you to see the Sun Devils take the ice as an official Division I team?
