Babby claims “circle of power” deserves credit for recent wins

Phoenix Suns President of Basketball Operations Lon Babby credits the Suns current mini-streak of success to what he calls the “circle of power.”

What is the “circle of power,” you may ask?

No, it’s not a cheap hybrid of Elton John’s “Circle of Life” from the Lion King and the “Axis of Powers” in World War II. Well, it’s probably just easier to let Babby explain.

“We put everybody in a circle and everybody had to say first, some way in which they could improve the team with their own performance, and then say something nice to the person to their left.”

Okay, it may sound like a corporate exercise to promote synergy but Babby is confident the “circle of power” deserves at least partial credit for the Suns recent victories over the East-best Boston Celtics and the 32-18 New Orleans Hornets.

“We’ve played better since then,” explained Babby. “I think it was a good exercise. [Now] we will see if we can maintain it.”

Motivational spheres aside, the Suns have looked like a rejuvenated team against two playoff contenders.
