Kings rookie Cousins will not play against Suns

PHOENIX – Sacramento Kings rookie DeMarcus Cousins is not with the team as they visit the Suns in Phoenix.
Cousins reportedly had an altercation with teammate Donte Greene after Saturday’s loss to Oklahoma City because Cousins didn’t get the ball late in the game.
Kings head coach Paul Westphal would not comment on the supposed incident, which was reported by ESPN.
“He’s a very passionate guy and he’s a very talented player,” Cousins said. “We’ve been encouraged by his progress. It was a step back yesterday for sure, we can at least say that.”
Westphal said that the stories about the incident involving Cousins aren’t completely true.
“There was a lot of inaccurate reporting,” Westphal said. “What’s accurate and what’s inaccurate I’m not going to comment on, because then I’d start commenting, and I’m not going to do that.
Westphal wasn’t sure how Cousins’ absence would affect the rest of the team.
“It’s been a big distraction,” Westphal said. “How do you predict how people react to distractions? That’s what we’ll find out when we play the game.”
Whether or not Cousins rejoins the team may be decided on Monday.
