PHOENIX SUNS

Suns content to stand pat at trade deadline

The Phoenix Suns roster has undergone a drastic overhaul twice in a nine month span. Don’t expect them to do it for a third time prior to next Thursday’s NBA trade deadline.

Team president of basketball operations Lon Babby made it very clear on Wednesday morning that he doesn’t expect the team to make any trades before next week.

“If I had to predict, I would say we probably won’t do anything between now and next week,” he told Sports 620 KTAR’s Doug and Wolf Wednesday morning. “That’s not to say we’re not doing our due diligence, answering our phones and speaking to as many teams around the league as we can. That’s our job.”

Just because Babby doubts there will be a trade, doesn’t mean he believes the Suns’ roster is without flaws. He acknowledges that the team could get better down low.

“If we were perfect we wouldn’t be 27-26,” he said. “We know that we need to continue to get better on the interior. We could use a low post presence as a scorer to compliment the great work Channing [Frye] is doing as what you would call as a stretch four opening up and spacing the floor.”
