Gentry is frustrated with Suns performance

Mar 18, 2011, 12:15 AM | Updated: 1:20 am

When your team has lost four games in a row and is slowly slipping out of contention for a playoff spot, it’s no surprise that frustration would set in. Especially if this time just 12 short months ago your team was more worried about getting home court advantage more than just making it in.

That’s the predicament Alvin Gentry and his Phoenix Suns find themselves in. After a solid start to their post all-star break schedule, thanks to four straight loses they have slipped to 3-games behind the Memphis Grizzlies who hold the eighth and final playoff spot.

That coupled with a poor performance in practice by his players on Thursday was enough to push Gentry to the edge.

In a move very uncharacteristic of the coach, Gentry decided to leave right at the end of practice and not speak with the media.

It’s a move that his point guard Steve Nash completely understood.
