Grant Hill stands by comments about Jalen Rose

Grant Hill wasn’t happy.

When Jalen Rose, commenting during an ESPN documentary about Michigan’s Fab Five, said Duke would not recruit a player like him because the school “only recruited black players that were ‘Uncle Toms,'” the former Duke standout and current Sun Hill took offense.

Writing an op-ed piece for the New York Times, Hill cautioned his “fabulous five friends to avoid stereotyping me and others they do not know in much the same way so many people stereotyped them back then for their appearance and swagger.”

Friday, on Sports 620 KTAR’s Doug and Wolf, the veteran didn’t back down from anything he wrote.

“I just felt it was necessary,” he said, adding that he stands by his words. “A lot of thought went into it and it was important for me to get that off my chest.”
