Former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Barkley announced Saturday on Twitter that he has signed with the Cincinnati Bengals.

The 27-year-old is the first former Cardinals quarterback to sign with a new team for the 2018 season, as free agents Drew Stanton and Blaine Gabbert remain on the market.

Barkley was signed to Arizona’s active roster in November following injuries to Stanton and former quarterback Carson Palmer.

A fourth-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013, Barkley appeared in four games over the course of his two years with the Eagles, completing 30-of-50 pass attempts for 300 yards and four interceptions.

Barkley was acquired by the Cardinals in 2015, spending the entire season on the 53-man roster but was inactive every game. He remained in Arizona during the 2016 preseason, but signed with the Chicago Bears after he was released.

In seven games with Chicago, Barkley completed 129-of-216 pass attempts for 1,611 yards, eight touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Barkley signed with the San Francisco 49ers ahead of the 2017 season but was released at the end of preseason.
