Free agent defensive back Robert McClain will visit the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday as general manager Steve Keim weighs his options to fill the team’s second cornerback spot, reports ESPN’s Jenna Laine.
On Monday, the Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson reported that Arizona and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had shown interest in McClain.
The 29-year-old appeared in 14 games for Tampa Bay in 2017, finishing the year with 50 tackles and a career-high three picks. Prior to his single year with the Bucs, McClain played 14 games in 2015-16 under new Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks, who was then the defensive backs coach for the Carolina Panthers.
The 5-foot-9, 195-pound corner appeared in three games for the San Diego Chargers in 2016.
In between stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2011) New England Patriots (2015), McClain was a key player for the Atlanta Falcons from 2012-14.
McClain was drafted by Carolina as a seventh-round pick in 2010. He played his first stint with the Panthers from 2010-11.
