The Arizona Cardinals acquired wide receiver Cobi Hamilton off waivers on Thursday after the Houston Texans released him a day prior.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Hamilton enters his sixth season as a pro in 2016-17. He has 18 career catches for 242 yards and two touchdowns.
A sixth-round pick out of Arkansas in 2013, Hamilton, 27, jumped around on the practices squads and preseason rosters of the Bengals, Eagles, Dolphins and Panthers before he made his first game appearance in the NFL with Cincinnati in 2014. His most extensive action came in 2016 with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In 11 games that year, he recorded 17 catches for 234 yards and two touchdowns.
Playing for the Texans last year, Hamilton appeared in three games and caught one pass.
Arizona’s receiver room remains thin despite Larry Fitzgerald returning for his 15th season, and the Cardinals appear unlikely to chase after big-name free agents after spending much of their cap space on quarterbacks and offensive linemen.
J.J. Nelson is the only regular returning to the wideout group with Jaron Brown and John Brown leaving in free agency, while Chad Williams is expected to challenge for playing time in his second season.
