The Arizona Cardinals will meet with former cornerback Marcus Cooper on Friday, according to 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro.

The Cardinals acquired Cooper from the Kansas City Chiefs in September of 2016 for a conditional seventh-round pick.

He led Arizona in interceptions that season with four and also had 63 tackles. Appearing in 15 games and starting in 13, Cooper was named a Pro Bowl alternate.

Like many past acquisitions by general manager Steve Keim, Cooper’s successful one-year run in Arizona brought on interest in free agency from other teams and a price tag the Cardinals were doubtful they could match.

In March of 2017, Cooper signed a three-year, $16 million contract with the Chicago Bears that had $8 million guaranteed.

That season, the 28-year-old started four games and appeared in 15, not intercepting a pass and racking up 15 tackles. The Bears released Cooper on March 14.

Cornerback Tramon Williams, who started nine games on the opposite side of Patrick Peterson last season, reportedly signed a two-year deal with the Green Bay Packers Thursday.

On the current roster, only third-year pro Brandon Williams has a start under his belt at corner outside of Peterson.

Arizona reportedly was meeting Thursday with free agent corner Robert McClain, a 29-year-old who spent last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
