Rick Welts talks about his decision to come out

It’s been a whirlwind four days for Phoenix Suns CEO and president Rick Welts since he told the world he was gay in the pages of the New York Times.
On Thursday he was finally back in Phoenix and took a few minutes out of his morning to talk with Sports 620 KTAR’s Doug and Wolf. He opened up to the hosts about why he decided to come out in such a public way.
“The debate I had over the past year was that I could reach out to my close friends and my colleagues I’ve worked with,” Welts said. “I could have that conversation. That could kind of take care of the personal life side of it.
