A new point guard, and heir apparent to Steve Nash, could be coming to Phoenix sometime between now and the June 23 NBA Draft.
After being drafted two years ago, Spanish guard Ricky Rubio will finally join the Minnesota Timberwolves next season, meaning they need to clear a roster spot for the young phenom.
To make sure there is room for Rubio, the Timberwolves will likely trade point guard Jonny Flynn.
According to the report, Phoenix, along with Toronto, Detroit and Sacramento, have been mentioned as a possible landing spot for the third year guard out of Syracuse.
Flynn, who has averaged 10 points and four assists per game in his young career, would likely be acquired to fill the void that will be present when Nash leaves Phoenix.
Although he may not be ready to lead a team just yet, as he only averaged 18 minutes per game last year, Flynn could benefit from Nash’s guidance and help the Suns in years to come.
