NBA Draft Profile: Jeremy Hazell

Jun 6, 2011, 7:35 PM | Updated: Jun 10, 2011, 3:56 pm

Jeremy Hazell is a 6-5 senior shooting guard out of Seton Hall. He is a little older (25) than most of the current draft class, when drafted on potential it is rare teams take prospects in their mid-twenties.

The NBA is a scorer’s league and the one thing Hazell displayed with consistency during his tenure in college is that he is a terrific shooter with range. As a catch and shoot artist, Hazell could be one of the best in this year’s draft.

When he is allowed to move around off the ball he is deadly. The rest of his offensive game is built off of the threat of shooting, once he knows you are overplaying the shot he can get into the lane to create.

Hazell is not a great athlete, but he is very crafty in the lane. His ability to find angles and avenues to score are that of a savvy veteran, after all he is 25 years old.

Exploding through the air for dunks and creating off the dribble are not where Hazell will earn his money. He is a spot-up shooter, everything else in his game will play off of that and allow him to have a more dynamic offensive game. As a defender, Hazell has good size and generates a lot of steals, but he is a gambler who can sell out for steals and has been a defensive liability.
