Nash is happy in Phoenix

While Steve Nash’s name has been mentioned in various trade rumors, as it is every year, the standout point guard is loyal to the Suns.

“When you’re in a situation (where) you’ve given a lot of your career to one franchise, you feel at home there,” Nash said prior to his charity soccer event in New York city. “I feel a loyalty to my team, our community in Phoenix. I want us to try to get back and try to compete for a championship like we did two seasons ago so that’s kind of all I think about.”

While Nash makes it clear that he does not want to leave the Valley of the sun, he also understands that at some point during the next few years, he may be looking for a new home.

Should Nash have to vacate the Phoenix area which he has called home for the majority of his career, he would enjoy playing at home in Canada.

“I don’t plan on leaving but obviously if the opportunity were ever there, where Phoenix were rebuilding or whatever happens, Toronto would be an amazing place to play,” Nash said. “It’s a great city. It’d be at home in Canada. To be a part of their, hopefully, future success would be great but I don’t really have any plans other than try to get our team back in the playoffs and contend for a championship.”

Nash saying he would like to return to Canada and play for the Raptors will probably cause a stir, but both the point guard and the Suns are happy with what they have going right now and all indications say they are not willing to break up just yet.
