Morris ready to get started for Suns

PHOENIX – It’s unknown how good the Phoenix Suns’ first round pick Markieff Morris will be or how long until he can make a solid contribution to the team, but the former Kansas player isn’t short on confidence.

The power forward didn’t hesitate to say he will have a better career than No. 2 pick and former Arizona Wildcat Derrick Williams.

“I would never say somebody will be better than me. I’m ready to put the work in to commit to this game to be the best I can be,” said Morris on the Sports 620 KTAR’s Gambo and Ash show on Friday.

Morris believes he can make an immediate impact on the defensive end.

“I take pride in defense, that’s what I really want to hang my hat on,” said Morris.

It will be a bit of an odd transition for Morris to be apart from his twin brother Marcus, who was drafted by the Rockets.
