The NBA lockout is on and players are turning to overseas teams who are ready to tempt some of the top talent in the world with lucrative contracts – and an actual season.
One of those players is Phoenix Suns center Marcin Gortat, who reportedly agreed to terms with Spartak Saint Petersburg.
According to EuroBasket.com, the 27-year-old center is set to join the Russian side.
Gortat is the most recent player to move to another continent as he seeks somewhere to play his trade during the lockout. Another Sun, point guard Steve Nash, said earlier this week that he would “love” to play overseas.
As more reports say the NBA is in for a long lockout, Gortat is likely not the last to opt for an overseas team.
