Hernandez, Dodgers pass on Lemon Face Challenge to D-backs

Kike Hernandez and the Los Angeles Dodgers posted a video biting into lemon slices and challenged the Arizona Diamondbacks to do the same for Alabama native Aubreigh Nicholas.

Nicholas started a viral social media movement called the #LemonFaceChallenge to help fight a rare form of brain cancer.

Nicholas, an 11-year-old who suffers from Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DPIG), has received support from Alabama head coach Nick Saban and members of the Dodgers, who have participated in the challenge.

“We want to challenge the Arizona Diamondbacks,” Hernandez said. “You’re on.”

Hernandez gave the D-backs 48 hours to respond to the challenge.

DPIG is a rare form of brain cancer but it hasn’t stopped Nicholas from creating some pretty hilarious reactions from people eating lemons.

Coach Saban’s video has received nearly 3,000 likes and 280 comments on the Aubreigh’s Army Facebook page.

“Our team is so proud to be part of Aubreigh’s Army as you continue your fight and also your efforts in helping raise awareness for DPIG,” Saban said in the video.

The D-backs have two more games left in their current series with the Dodgers. They are 4-0 this season and have won 10 straight regular-season games against the Dodgers, dating back to last year.
