PHOENIX SUNS

Marketable Suns: Nash, Hill and…Carter?

Aug 2, 2011, 5:39 PM | Updated: 7:16 pm

The Phoenix Suns may have had their struggles on the court last season, but off the court their popularity didn’t suffer much.

In fact, as reported by the Phoenix Business Journal, Steve Nash, Grant Hill and Vince Carter are in the top 10 for most marketable players according to The Sporting News and a Nielsen survey.

Nash ranks as the third most marketable player, behind the Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki and the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant.

That Nash and Hill rank in the top 10 is not surprising. Nash has proven to be brilliantly funny in his commercials, while Hill is recognized as one of the game’s greatest ambassadors.

But Carter? Really?

One would have thought a player who has seen his scoring average drop the last four seasons would see his popularity do the same.

Apparently people still remember Carter back when he was, you know, good.
